13 Best Strains To Grow In Texas In 2023

Texas has some of the best-growing conditions in the United States thanks to its warm, dry climate and long growing season.

Since Texas is such a large state, its growing season varies quite a bit.

Most of Texas has hot humid conditions in the Summer, with the North of the state experiencing drier Summers and cooler Winters.

If you plan on growing outdoors in Texas, it’s best to avoid Indica strains that have dense buds and are susceptible to mold. The light airy nature of Sativa strains means they are perfect for high-humidity environments.

  1. Great article. Especially for a first time grower. Next spring.
    I am south of Houston, just as close to Galveston as I am to downtown Houston.

    I want to grow outdoors, raised bed or beds. 3 to 5 plants. Probably heavier of the Stativia side. Chronic pain, anxiety, sleep assist. Plus recreational pleasures as well. For growing one strain.

    2 different strains would be my preferred choice. One for health concerns plus one just because it’s fun.

    Which 2 different strains?
    Plant spacing? Size of a raised bed per plant, assuming 12 to 16 inches tall?

    Soil pH? I have organic compost that I have been making for over 3 years. The 3 bin system, start, cooking, ready to use.

    {A drip irrigation on a timer. Maybe a lower section of soaker hose. [I use this setup successfully on my roses.}

    I plan on making a tea from my composte for a liquid fertilizer. Any thoughts?

    Using ladybugs to fight off aphids as I do with the roses.

    Any comments, critique, suggestions would be greatly appreciated. I have somewhat of a green thumb. Just need the specifics of growing weed here.

    Thanks in advance for your attention and time.
